Microsoft Rewards Bing Homepage Quiz (7-5-2022): Lake Tahoe is the second-deepest lake in the US. What is the deepest?

A Crater Lake
B Lake Superior
C Lake Shasta

Crater Lake in southern Oregon is the deepest at 1,949 feet. It rests in what remains of a volcanic crater. Almost 8,000 years ago Mount Mazama erupted and formed a symmetrical caldera. Rain and snowmelt eventually filled the caldera with water, creating the lake. Without any streams or rivers flowing into or out of it, the water level remains very constant. Crater Lake’s average depth of 1,148 feet makes it the deepest lake in the Western Hemisphere.

The correct answer to this quiz is Crater Lake.
