Microsoft Rewards Bing Homepage Quiz: ‘Corjuem Fort, in what is now the Indian state of Goa, was built by colonists from which country?

A Portugal
B France
C England

It’s understandable if you chose ‘England’ for an answer, as the British colonial occupation of most of India gets more attention. But for centuries, the Portuguese occupied a portion of India as well.
Colonists from Portugal built up a preexisting fort here in 1705. Corjuem Fort, seen in this aerial photo, was abandoned in 1894 but never demolished. It is now a protected historical site, and during the right time of year, the fort can look like it’s being eaten by forest.

The correct answer is Portugal.
