The Quiz: The Vikings were the first to dominate trade on this northern sea. Where are we?
A Caspian Sea
B Baltic Sea
C Black Sea
The Baltic is an inland, brackish sea connected to the Atlantic Ocean through three narrow straits in Denmark. It is relatively shallow and nearly landlocked, making it easy to navigate. Although brackish, it is closer to being fresh water than saline as there is very little exchange between the Baltic and the North Sea on the other side of Denmark. Numerous rivers feed into the Baltic, adding to its freshwater quality. Our image today is on the Baltic’s Estonian coast.
The correct answer to this quiz is Baltic Sea.
