Welcome to the ruins of Cloughoughter Castle in County Cavan. Which country are we in?
The castle has been occupying this dramatic position on a manmade island in Lough Oughter for centuries. Construction probably began under the Anglo-Norman de Lacy family early in the 13th century, but in 1233 it was seized by the O’Reilly clan who finished building it. It hasn’t been occupied since it was struck by cannon fire in 1653.
The correct answer is Ireland.
