Which organization reintroduced bison to the Western US?

The Quiz: Which organization reintroduced bison to the Western US?

A The National Rifle Association
B The Bronx Zoo
C The National Park Service

Bison herds were once plentiful in America, but by the early 20th century they’d been nearly wiped out by overhunting and changes to their habitat. Since its opening in 1899, the Bronx Zoo has had a ‘Bison Range’ attraction, with the goal of breeding genetically pure bison. In 1907, 15 of them were shipped to a wildlife refuge in Oklahoma to revive the population. In 1913, the zoo sent 14 more to South Dakota and Montana. Many of their descendants now roam the plains!

The correct answer to this quiz is The Bronx Zoo.
