Why was July 25 chosen as National Merry-Go-Round Day?

The Quiz: Why was July 25 chosen as National Merry-Go-Round Day?

A Date of the first carousel patent
B Famous carousel opened on the Asbury Park Boardwalk
C First carousel appearance at a world’s fair

The National Carousel Association chose to celebrate the popular ride on July 25 because it’s the anniversary of the issuing of the first patent for a carousel. William Schneider of Davenport, Iowa, received the patent in 1871, thus designating him as the official inventor. That’s despite the fact the amusement rides had been evolving for centuries. In fact, Schneider wasn’t even the first in the United States to have a carousel. Franz Wiesenoffer holds that honor with the one he created nearly 30 years earlier in Hessville, Ohio.

The correct answer to this quiz is Date of the first carousel patent.
